Stamps to the Rescue

They just debuted. And already, hearts have been won.

Why do we get the feeling that every third envelope going through the mail over the next month will have Teddy's furry mug on it?

Stamps to the Rescue, a new series of postage stamps spreading the word about shelter sweethearts, debuted at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in North Hollywood on Friday, April 30. Ellen DeGeneres was in attendance, in addition to various cat- and dog-loving dignitaries.

The stamps, which are 44 cents each, depict five real-life pooches and five sweet felines, all real pets awaiting adoption in photographer Sally Andersen-Bruce's Connecticut town. Teddy, the little guy we mentioned up top, is a furry Jack Russell. You can learn more about all the animals' stories at the Stamps to the Rescue site.

And you can buy the stamps, too. This is probably stock-up-on-the-stamps time for many animal people. Do not want to run low on these.
