With his new 1,400-square-foot boutique on La Cienega set to open Tuesday, November 4, jewelry designer Neil Lane wants to bring his business to the next level, telling WWD: “I am ready to take the platform as a major player in the world of fashion and jewels.” Along with the shop—a move from a small space at Antiquarius Antique and Jewelry Mall on Beverly Boulevard—he's also looking into licensing deals and may bring on a CEO. “I definitely would like to bring taste to the masses,” he told the fashion trade.

Architect David Montalba—whose work in the area includes Monique Lhuillier and Ports 1961 on Melrose Place, as well as the recently opened Arcade Boutique on Melrose—worked with Lane on the design of the shop, an "airy store...splashed in neutral shades of light brown and features white oak custom jewelry cases that use keyless, electronic locks. Frosted windows protect shoppers’ privacy."

Merch runs from under $1,000 to $3 million, with lots of "Rough-cut and colored diamonds, as well as classic white diamonds," along with $10 million worth of vintage pieces encased at the back of the store. Right next to it: a Gap campaign photo of Missy Elliott and Madonna, in which Lane's bracelets make an appearance.
