‘Sing' Makes Free Debut in Some SoCal Theaters

Multiple locations in LA and OC will be showing free screenings of soon-to-be released film 'Sing.'

Animation and music lovers rejoice: As part of a nationwide event, Illumination Entertainment is offering free Saturday screenings of its soon-to-be-released new movie, "Sing."

As part of "Sing Saturday," Illumination Entertainment, Universal Pictures and AMC Theaters will offer advanced screenings of the new film in 200 theaters around the country, including multiple locations in SoCal.

"Sing" is the latest film in an Illumination Entertainment slate that includes such hits as "Despicable Me," "The Secret Life of Pets" and "Minions."

"For the past several years, 'Sing 'has been a labor of love for everyone at Illumination, as well as the tireless performers who have poured their hearts into this movie," said Chris Meledandri, founder and chief executive of Illumination, in a written statement.

The movie, which stars Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon, centers around Buster Moon, a koala whose theater has fallen on hard times.

To save his theater, Buster decides to take one last roll of the dice by producing the world's greatest singing competition.

The movie features 65 hit songs that are sure to have audiences wanting to sing along.

Saturday's screenings will take place at 10 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis for the first 200 moviegoers in line.

AMC Puente Hills 20 - City of Industry, CA
