Where to Go on Veterans Day: Southern California Celebrates and Honors Vets

A number of Veterans Day events will be happening across SoCal. Here are just a few of them.

Veterans Day — Friday, Nov. 11 — is just around the corner, and SoCal is hosting a number of events this week to honor our men and women in uniform.

San Fernando Valley Veterans Day Parade

The parade will begin at 11:11 a.m. on Friday. The route starts at the corner of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and San Fernando Mission Boulevard, continues down Laurel Canyon Boulevard for just over a mile before ending at the Ritchie Valens Recreation Center and Park. There will be a carnival at the Recreation Center.

Palm Springs Veterans Day Parade

The 20th annual Palm Springs Veterans Day Parade will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday in downtown Palm Springs. The parade will start at Ramon Road and Palm Canyon Drive and head north on Palm Canyon Drive to Alejo Road. At the end of the parade, there will be a concert and fireworks finale.

Mobile Vietnam Memorial Wall

The Mobile Vietnam Veterans Memorial for the Antelope Valley (AV Wall) will be on display with viewings running from Thursday to Nov. 15. The AV Wall is a half-scale tribute to the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Together with the AV Wall, Point Man Antelope Valley and the City of Palmdale are also hosting other Veterans Day events:

• Opening Ceremony Celebration: Friday at 11 a.m.

• Candlelight Memorial Walk: Saturday at 9 p.m.

• Gold Star Family Recognition: Sunday at 2 p.m.

Ronald Reagan Presidential Library

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library will hold its annual Veterans Day Event on Friday. Outdoor activities include musical entertainment, Civil War re-enactments and a military vehicle display. A program will also be held at 10:30 a.m. in the main auditorium, followed by a showing of the documentary, "They Were Our Fathers."

Richard Nixon Presidential Library

The Richard Nixon Presidential Library will host a Veterans Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. on Friday featuring several keynote speakers and performances by various high school and college musical groups. At 1 p.m., the Placentia Symphonic Band will have a concert in the East Room.

NBC4's Free Coffee With Our Veterans Event

Join NBC4 starting at 10 a.m. as we support our veterans and provide free coffee at the "America's Parade" located at the VA West Los Angeles campus at 11301 Wilshire Blvd. The community is welcome to attend the parade to salute our veterans and stop by for a cup of coffee on NBC4. Today in LA anchor Daniella Guzman and meteorolgists Crystal Egger, David Biggar and Anthony Yanez will be at the NBC4 booth.
