While we Muggles enter the world of Harry Potter through books, films, attractions, conventions, games, and a host of different enchanting outlets, cats, as a rule, never, ever leave that whimsical world.

After all, felines are fantastical, and mysterious, and whether they're up to casting a spell at any particular moment, or summoning a wish on behalf of their mistress or master, really isn't up for a debate: You know cats can.

So the fact that our swishy-tail'd friends already live in a magical universe makes the idea of a Harry Potter-themed adoption event all the sweeter.

And how sweet is this? The Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA has waived adoption fees on several dozen cats through Sunday, July 28, in honor of its Harry Pawter Cat Promotion.

Yes, Pawter. Please. You knew it was going to go there.

These are very special kitties, just so you know: They've been sorted into Hogwarts-inspired houses, including "Hufflepurr," "Gryffinrawr," "Kittenclaw," and "Slytherpaw."

No, the names aren't quite what author J.K. Rowling originally dreamt up, but they are so bewitchingly adorable.

And is a section of the Raymond Avenue animal-rescuing hub decorated in delightful Potter-esque gewgaws? Indeed.

Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for "Professor Snape's Potions Classroom" as well as the "Divination Classroom" while at the Neely Cat Center.

But you say a cat that isn't part of the Potter promotion has put a spell on you? Fret not, for adoption fees for such fabulous felines will run "as low as $25."

Is it time you had a familiar that's cuddly, purrful, and full of depth? No need to wave your want to summon such a powerful critter: They're in Pasadena, right now, patiently awaiting your arrival.
