The southbound 405 Freeway was closed early Wednesday near Getty Center Drive after a multi-vehicle wreck that led to a five-mile backup.
Five vehicles were involved in the 4:30 a.m. crash, just south of Getty Center Drive. The vehicles were involved in three separate collisions near the same location, according to the California Highway Patrol.
One motorist was hospitalized, the CHP reported. Details regarding the victim's condition were not immediately available.
At about 6:20 a.m., the backup extended to Burbank Boulevard. Authorities allowed traffic through on the right shoulder and one lane, and the crash scene was cleared by 6:30 a.m. when all lanes were reopened.
During the crash cleanup, a disabled vehicle near Skirball Center Drive caused more problems for early morning commuters.
