Two Hospitalized After Big Rig Crash in Montclair

A tanker truck collided with two cars caught fire on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Monclair late Tuesday Night. The freeway is closed in both directions, and could affect the morning commute.

Two people were hospitalized following a fiery crash that led to the closure of the 10 Freeway overnight in Montclair.

The crash involved a big rig and two cars on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway near the Monte Vista exit, at 11:11 p.m., according the CHP. The tanker truck crashed through the center divider and burst into flames.

Firefighters airlifted the two injured people to hospitals, where details regarding their conditions were not immediately available, said authorities.

Investigators say several agencies are investigating the accident.

“Right now we have Caltrans representatives and L.A. County Hazmat on the scene,” said Montclair Fire Chief Steve Jackson.  “We’re going to find out what we need to do to take care of the rest of the situation here.” said Chief Jackson.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

The eastbound side of the freeway reopened at about 5:45 a.m. All lanes were reopened by 6:20 a.m.
