State Route 330, the popular route to Big Bear, will temporarily reopen Memorial Day weekend following months of construction to repair it from winter storm damage, it was announced.
Caltrans said SR 330 will be open in both directions from Friday, May 27 at 6:00 a.m. to Monday, May 30 at 11:59 p.m. in anticipation of heavy holiday traffic.
The highway north of Highland Avenue was severely damaged by a storm in late December 2010 which lead to its closure.

The full opening is only temporary though. Caltrans spokesperson Terri Kasinga said there were still several parts of the road that require more construction.
"We do have some culverts that are going to still be replaced," said Kasinga. "And we do have some other drainage work that needs to be done. But a lot of the drains have been cleaned. We're ready to open for Memorial Day."
Following the Memorial Day weekend, the previous one-way commuting schedule will resume.
Divers headed down the mountain from Running Springs will be able to use the highway from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Monday through Friday. Commuters headed up the mountain from Highland Avenue can access the road from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Crews have worked 24 hours a day on the $23 million repair project, installing large pipes to help with future rain and run-off and additional retaining walls to reinforce hillsides.
Caltrans is advising that motorists use extreme caution while driving through construction areas since heavy construction vehicles are still working.
The agency also recommended that motorists still use alternate routes SR-18 and SR-38 until construction is complete.

Kasinga said Caltrans hopes to have the full project finished sometime around the July 4 holiday.
