Alma Water: Outdoor USC Commencement Goes Ahead in the Rain

Rain brought by an unseasonably cold spring storm did not stop USC's outdoor commencement ceremony Friday morning.

Some of the school's ceremonies, including the main ceremony at the school's Alumni Park, were not going to be covered, meaning many students and their guests would have to brave the inclement weather, rare for Southern California, without any umbrellas.

"The Main USC Ceremony is an outdoor ceremony and will not be covered. Umbrellas are not permitted during the ceremony," said a school advisory posted online.

Ponchos were allowed at the USC ceremony, however.

Two Cal State schools in the Los Angeles areas adapted their commencement ceremonies.

Cal State Dominguez Hills pushed its ceremony back from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., while Cal State Northridge was scheduled to hold its first commencement Friday evening after canceling its honors convocation.
