Humidity Moves Out of Southern California for Fourth of July Events

The Independence Day forecast includes temperatures ranging from the lows 70s along the coast to near 100 in the high desert with a drop in humidity and partly cloudy skies for Saturday night's fireworks shows.

Temperatures in Pasadena, site of the Rose Bowl fireworks show, will climb to the high-80s Saturday evening with clear skies in the San Gabriel Valley. The humid conditions that blanketed Southern California for the past week will ease Saturday afternoon.

"We are going to see more sunshine today, and that's going to warm things up," Mendiola said. "For your afternoon, we're going to feel lower humidity because all that monsoonal moisture has moved east. That really is going to cool things down."

Onshore winds will contribute to the cool-down.

Clear conditions are in the forecast throughout the evening for the San Gabriel and San Fernando valleys.

The morning marine layer will stick around for a few hours on the coast, with some clouds lingering into the afternoon. The marine layer might return around 6 p.m. along the Orange County coast, rolling into the South Bay later Saturday night.

"Depending on where you're at, you may be seeing some variable cloud cover tonight," Mendiola said.
