Moderate to heavy rain fell in Southern California overnight, dislodging rocks and boulders in the Santa Monica Mountains and causing minor roadway flooding in several areas of Los Angeles County.

The strongest of the rainfall was moving out by later Thursday morning as another storm appeared set to bring more rain to Southern California by the weekend.

Heavy rainfall was reported in LA County around 2 a.m., triggering a mudslide in the Topanga Canyon area. The heaviest rain was reported across the eastern half of the county, with a few heavy showers moving across the western San Fernando Valley and West Los Angeles.

A flood advisory was issued for Burbank, Beverly Hills, Acton, Encino, Inglewood, Manhattan Beach, Agoura Hills, Venice, Rancho Palos Verdes, Hollywood, Van Nuys, Glendora, Alhambra, West Covina, Mount Wilson, Culver City, Torrance, Universal City and Whittier.

Conditions are expected to clear Thursday ahead of the next storm, which is moving through Northern California Thursday. The third storm of the week is scheduled to arrive Friday afternoon in the southern part of the state.

"We're talking about snow levels dropping with this next round, as well," said NBC4 forecaster Shanna Mendiola.

Rainfall rates are expected to be light with minimal threat of flooding. The storm is expected to move out Saturday.
