MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND... is not in the summertime, not literally, not officially, but to say that many people begin their summery pursuits around the end of May would not be incorrect. Thus to take that time to visit the slopes, one last time, for a little snowy celebration, means that you're almost skiing from winter right into summer (no, we didn't say "literally," but we did intend it in a poetic sense). LODGING DEAL... on, for Memorial Day 2018, and this is the general vibe: You'll save a cool 25% on your stay at the Village Lodge, Mammoth Mountain Inn, or Juniper Springs Resort from Thursday, May 24 through Monday, May 28. If you purchase your pass for next year now — there's some early bird action savings happening, do note — you can use it to ski at both Mammoth Mountain now, this season, while the snow is still hot. Er, cool. And, by the way, about two to three inches just fell at Mammoth as we head into the second weekend of April. Lining up your end-of-May getaway? Probably a smart move to get on that, if you're going to get on that.
