Christian Cázares is a general assignment reporter for NBC4 News. He joined KNBC in May 2023. Cázares can be seen weekdays on NBC4 News at 3, 4, 5, and 6 p.m.
Cázares has worked coast to coast for NBC owned stations, reporting in both English and Spanish. Among them, NBC10/WCAU and Telemundo 62/WWSI in Philadelphia where he covered notable news events such as the 2016 election and Pope Francis's 2015 visit, and also served as the South Jersey Bureau reporter. Cázares reported on Hurricane Irma for NBC6/WTVJ in Miami and the devastating Napa wildfires for NBC Bay Area. Prior to joining NBC4, he was the weekday anchor at KLAS, the CBS station in Las Vegas.
Cázares has been recognized with numerous industry awards including 11 Emmy’s for best reporting in the categories of investigative, crime, education and overall best newscast in the region, a national award by the Society of Professional Journalists and acknowledgment from the California State Senate.
Cázares was born and raised in San Diego and earned his bachelor’s degree in 2005 from California State University, Monterey Bay.
Outside of the newsroom, you can find him exploring the Los Angeles culinary scene or at the beach and hiking with his family and his two dogs.
