Ana Cristina Sánchez is a Meteorologist for Telemundo 20 News, airing Monday through Friday at 5:00 PM, 5:30 PM, 6:00 PM, and 11:00 PM on Telemundo 20 in San Diego. Telemundo 20 serves the Spanish-speaking community along the Tijuana-San Diego border region in Southern California and Northern Baja California, Mexico. Sánchez joined Telemundo in 2017 and is the only certified meteorologist in Spanish-language media in the region.

As part of Telemundo 20 News, Sánchez analyzes weather models and delivers forecasts for the border region. She also works on implementing new technology, including augmented reality, to inform viewers about various weather phenomena in an interactive and innovative way.

Sánchez received the prestigious Golden Mike Award in 2022. In addition, she has earned six Emmy Awards, including one from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in the category of “Best Weather Anchor” for her coverage of high-impact weather events affecting audiences in San Diego and Tijuana in 2018.

Before joining Telemundo 20, Sánchez worked as a Content Editor for Google from 2016 to 2017. She also served as a Producer and Weather Presenter for multiple cities across the United States with The Weather Company from 2014 to 2016. Earlier in her career, she worked as a News and Weather Producer and Presenter for Telemundo Lubbock and Telemundo Nuevo México from 2013 to 2014.

Sánchez earned a master’s degree in Science and Arts from Harvard University, along with a certificate in Marketing Management. In 2019, she obtained her meteorology degree from Mississippi State University. Prior to that, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences from Texas Tech University. Sánchez is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
