Jessie Sheehan's Secret to Incredibly Good Rice Krispie Treats

The self-proclaimed queen of easy-peasy sweets is in the studio! Author, baker, and TikTok sensation, Jessie Sheehan joins California Live’s Danielle Nottingham to talk about “Snackable Bakes,” her recently released book and shares her secret ingredient to make the best rice krispie treats! *JESSIE SHEEHAN’S RICE KRISPIE TREATS -INGREDIENTS: COOKING SPRAY OR SOFTENED BUTTER FOR PAN AND YOUR HANDS 1/2 CUP (113G) UNSALTED BUTTER 1/3 CUP (105G) SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK 1 TABLESPOON VANILLA EXTRACT 1 TEASPOON KOSHER SALT ONE 10-OUNCE BAG OF MINI MARSHMALLOWS (283 G), PLUS 1 CUP (40G; OPTIONAL) 6 CUPS (170G) CRISPY RICE CEREAL, SUCH AS RICE KRISPIES INSTRUCTIONS: 1. GREASE AN 8-IN SQUARE PAN WITH COOKING SPRAY OR BUTTER. LINE PAN WITH PARCHMENT PAPER THAT EXTENDS OVER THE SIDES OF THE PAN. 2. MELT BUTTER IN LARGE POT OVER MED-HIGH HEAT UNTIL IT BROWNS + SMELLS NUTTY, 3-5 MINUTES. 3. STIR IN CONDENSED MILK, VANILLA, AND SALT WITH FLEXIBLE SPATULA UNTIL COMBINED. 4. ADD 10 OUNCES OF MARSHMALLOWS UNTIL MELTED. 5. OFF THE HEAT, STIR IN CEREAL AND REMAINING CUP OF MARSHMALLOWS (IF USING) UNTIL COMBINED. TRANSFER TO THE PREPARED PAN. SPRAY YOUR HANDS WITH COOKING SPRAY OR BUTTER AND FLATTEN THE MIXTURE LIGHTLY AND EVENLY IN TO PAN. 6. LET THE TREATS SET ON THE COUNTER FOR AN HOUR, THEN LIFT THEM OUT OF THE PAN USING THE PARCHMENT PAPER OVERHANG, AND SLICE. 7. ENJOY!! *YOU CAN KEEP TREATS IN AIRTIGHT CONTAINER ON THE COUNTER FOR UP TO 3 DAYS.
