One Killed in “Horrific” North Hollywood Crash

One person was killed Thursday in a collision that involved at least two vehicles and a flatbed truck in North Hollywood.

The crash might have occurred at the end of a police pursuit.

The crash was reported at about 3:45 p.m. in the 12400 block of Oxnard Street near Whitsett Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The driver of a vehicle that appeared to have slammed into the side of a flatbed truck was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Initial reports from the scene indicated that as many as four other people were injured in the wreck.

"We have confirmed one fatality, but that's all the information we have right now," Los Angeles police Officer April Harding said. "Right now all we know is there was a horrific traffic collision."

Fire crews responding to the scene indicated the crash occurred at the end of some type of pursuit, but Harding said she could not immediately confirm that report.
