1 Killed, 2 Injured in Norwalk Shooting

Three men were standing outside a home in Norwalk on Monday, July 4, 2016 when a driver opened fire while driving by. All three were struck, and one died. Residents in the area said they did not hear the gunshots because of the holiday fireworks. Toni Guinyard reports for NBC4 News at 11 a.m. on July 5, 2016.

A man was killed and two people were injured in a shooting in Norwalk late Monday night, authorities said.

The shooting was reported around 11:28 p.m. near the 13000 block of Elmcroft Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

One man died at the scene. Two other victims were injured and transported to a hospital in unknown condition.

A preliminary investigation revealed a group of people were leaving a gathering at a home when a man approached them and opened fire.

A description of the shooter was not immediately available. Neighbors said they did not hear gunfire because of the sounds of fireworks on the Fourth of July.

A resident told NBC4 that the fatal shooting victim was her son's childhood friend. The man had just pulled up in a car outside a home when a gunman opened fire from another vehicle, the resident, who declined to be interviewed on camera, said.
