Santa Ana police arrested a driver Thursday who allegedly fled from police in a stolen vehicle that crashed into a house in Garden Grove.

The incident began about 2 a.m. when officers tried to pull over the vehicle for a possible traffic violation but the driver kept going, Santa Ana police spokesman Anthony Bertagna said.

The officers lost the vehicle for a time, and then learned that it had crashed into a residence in the 10400 block of Hazard Avenue, Bertagna said. Officers searched the area and took the driver and a passenger into custody.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, police said. His name was not immediately released. A passenger in the vehicle was treated for an unspecified injury. Two replica handguns were found in the vehicle, along with some marijuana plants, Bertagna said.
