An investigation involving a body on the 210 Freeway late Sunday night shut down all lanes in one direction and caused severe backups.

The man was dangling from an overpass before he dropped to the freeway near Lake Street, the California Highway Patrol said. He was struck by several cars, according to investigators.

Traffic backed up for over a mile within an hour of the initial report. The freeway reopened at about 4:30 a.m.

The California Highway Patrol reponded to the body in lanes at approximately 10 p.m. and all westbound lanes were closed.
