Car Catches Fire After Crashing Into Covina House

The crash woke up residents, who said it felt like an earthquake. Annette Arreola reports for Today in LA on Monday July 31, 2017.

Residents who were sleeping when a car crashed into their house in Covina Monday said the impact felt like an earthquake.

The car caught fire, injuring the driver and displacing two adults, authorities said. The crash happened just after 3 a.m. in the 1300 block of East Puente Street.

"I'm still in a little bit of shock," said resident Steve Sweeny.

The driver was taken to a hospital, but details about the individual's condition were not immediately available. Two adults and some pets were displaced due to damage at the home and the car fire.

"My concern was for the guy in the car and my roommate," said Robert Bellinger, who woke up his roommate after hearing the crash.

The car was removed from the property later Monday morning.
