A hit-and-run crash in Culver City Tuesday morning at the end of what investigators said was a six-mile chase stemming from a case of domestic violence sent a Los Angeles Police Department sergeant to the hospital.
It happened around 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Centinela Avenue and Bristol Parkway. The sergeant is listed in serious condition with broken bones, but no life-threatening injuries.
She was sitting alone in her car at the intersection when a woman in another car pulled alongside her and tried to get the sergeant's attention. That's when the driver of a silver Cadillac Escalade rammed into the rear of both cars.
The Cadillac sustained heavy damaged to its front and side.
The woman may have been trying to flee a domestic violence incident involving an ex-boyfriend that occurred earlier in Inglewood, where the Escalade driver saw his girlfriend driving and began chasing her.
The sergeant was cut from the vehicle by firefighters and was rushed to the hospital. The woman who pulled alongside the sergeant was not injured.
