A large blue sign and painting on the front window at Sander's K-9 Inn says the Fullerton business offers doggie daycare and cage-free boarding. It also served as the base for an illegal drug dealing operation, investigators said Thursday.
Three men, including the owner, and a woman have been arrested and booked on several drug-related charges.
Owner Richard Sanders was booked Wednesday on suspicion of drug and drug paraphernalia possession, Fullerton police Lt. Jon Radus said. Also in custody are Christopher Proglio, 53, of Fullerton, suspected of possession of a controlled substance and methamphetamine for sale, having brass knuckles and forging of an official seal. Juan Coronado, 38, of Corona, is suspected of possession of drug paraphernalia and forging of an official seal; and Jennifer Sandoval, 30, of San Dimas, faces suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia accusations.
It was not immediately clear whether the suspects have attorneys.
At about noon Wednesday, undercover Fullerton detectives conducting surveillance at the business in the 100 block of West Walnut Avenue saw Proglio, who was living inside the kennel business and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, police said in a statement. Proglio had 28 grams of heroin and 1.6 grams of meth on him when detectives spoke with him, police said.
Several items were found inside the kennel that indicated it was part of a drug sales operation, police said. Details about what those items are were not immediately available.
About 20 dogs were inside the kennel. They appeared to be in good health, police said. The dogs were left with another employee who was not part of the criminal activity, police said.
