Former Teacher Charged With More Sex Crimes After Second Victim Comes Forward

A former teacher at Hancock Park’s exclusive Marlborough School is facing 10 additional charges after a second ex-student accused him of having sex with her when she was underage. Angie Crouch reports for the NBC4 News at 5 p.m. on May 4, 2015.

A former teacher at the exclusive all-girls Marlborough School in Hancock Park accused of having sex with a former student was charged with 10 additional sex crimes Monday, prosecutors said.

Joseph Koetters, 47, pleaded not guilty to the charges, stemming from allegations that he had sex with a second former student.

His attorney declined to comment.

Koetters was charged in February with sex crimes stemming from his alleged sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl between June 2000 and June 2002. During their relationship, she allegedly miscarried the former English teacher’s baby.

Another former student recently came forward and said she had a sexual relationship with Koetters between February and June 2004 when she was 16, resulting in the additional charges.

He is now charged with seven counts each of oral copulation of a person under 18 and sexual penetration by a foreign object of a person under 18.

If convicted, he faces more than 11 years in state prison, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Koetters was released after posting $350,000 bail.
