A Metro Gold Line train and an SUV collided in Pasadena Wednesday, leaving a motorist seriously injured, authorities said.

The crash was reported at about 12:15 p.m. at Glenarm Street and Raymond Avenue, said Ramon Montenegro of the sheriff's Transit Policing Division.

A man in his 70s driving a Mercedes SUV was taken to a hospital in serious condition, said Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department. Gold Line train service was suspended between the South Pasadena and Fillmore stations, and buses were brought in to shuttle rail passengers around the affected area, said Rick Jager of Metro.

Both tracks were closed at the scene of the accident, and crews were sent to repair a signaling switch that was damaged, Jager said.
