Police were looking for a gunman in a neighborhood shooting that left a victim dead. Hetty Chang reports from Highland Park for the NBC4 News at 11 on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014.

A homicide investigation has been launched after police failed to catch a gunman who shot a man dead in Highland Park last night.

Officers set up a perimeter on Tuesday night as they hunted for the suspect, however the search was called of at around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The shooting occurred about 9:20 p.m. at a home in the 6000 block of Fayette St., officials with the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Police was in the area searching for the shooter because he was wanted on a previous robbery charge.
