Targeted Biopsy Marks Major Advance in Prostate Cancer Research

In a typical biopsy, doctors take 24 random samples and send them off to lab. A new targeted biopsy at UCLA Medical Center allows doctors to pinpoint the subtle difference between normal and cancerous tissues, and take samples directly from the tumor. Many biopsies man can miss early stages of the cancer, similar to the type Gov. Jerry Brown announced on Wednesday that he is battling.
