A state Senate leader wants to bar the overuse of antibiotics in farm animals destined for the dinner table.
Senate Majority Leader Dean Florez (D-Shafter) is proposing legislation that would bar ranchers and farmers from giving feed with antibiotics to cattle, poultry and pigs to promote growth and ward off disease.
Schools would alos be barred from serving meat that had been regularly treated with antibiotics.
