4 Injured After Helicopter Crash Lands in Sherman Oaks

Four people were injured during an emergency helicopter landing in Sherman Oaks. Mekahlo Medina reports for the NBC4 News at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017.

A helicopter made an emergency landing in a Sherman Oaks neighborhood Friday, injuring four people on board, authorities said.

The helicopter landed hard just before noon in the area of Noble Avenue and Camarillo Street near the 101 Freeway, the California Highway Patrol said.

Emergency responders treated four patients for non-life-threatening injuries, according to an initial report from the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Aerial images showed the helicopter in the middle of the road lined with single-family homes. No flames were visible. Its rotor blades appeared to be bent and yellow water-landing pontoons had been deployed.

The helicopter, a Robinson R44, is registered to National Helicopter Service, based in nearby Van Nuys, California. The company's website indicates that it offers helicopters for tours, chartered flights, aerial cinematography and engineering services.

A woman who answered the phone at the company declined to immediately comment.

Valleyheart Drive was closed to traffic between Noble Avenue and Sepulveda Boulevard.
