Four Los Angeles Police Department officers are being hailed as heroes after they entered a burning home in Sylmar Tuesday night and rescued a trapped and unconscious victim.
The fire was reported at 8:50 p.m. in the 13600 block of Brussels Avenue, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The victim suffered critical smoke inhalation and was taken to a hospital, Humphrey said.
The officers were taken to a hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and were reported to be in stable condition, according to LAPD Officer Drake Madison.
The victim had been reported to be trapped inside the home, but was outside when firefighters arrived, Humphrey said.
Forty-one firefighters responded and knocked down the heavy flames in 26 minutes, Humphrey said.
