Neighbors in a quiet community in Diamond Bar were shocked.
A neighbor shot at a burglar who broke into his home Friday.
"Oh my God! That's scary!" said Sandra Figueroa, who has lived in the Diamond Bar neighborhood with her husband, Carlos, for more than a decade. "If I had a gun, I'd probably do the same thing, but that's scary."
Police say the burglar entered the home thinking no one was there.
But the homeowner, who was in his bedroom, heard noises, grabbed his gun and fired a shot at the intruder, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Frank Rivera.
No one was injured. The burglar didn't get away with anything.
"You just never know," said Sally Wagner. "You just take your chances when you do something very dishonest. Number one, go to work like everyone else!"
Wagner is in charge of the neighborhood watch group on her street.
She said she's reminding her neighbors to be each other's eyes and ears.

"It doesn't matter what time," she said. "If you see something strange, the Sheriff's Department says it's never wrong not to call."
The burglar fled in a burgundy Toyota Camry with tinted windows, his accomplice behind the wheel.
