Ivanka Trump to Speak at Conference in Beverly Hills

Presidential adviser Ivanka Trump is set to participate in a luncheon discussion on Monday with the theme "Driving Shared Prosperity" at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Beverly Hills.

The other panelists are Marillyn Hewson, the chairman, president and CEO of the global security and aerospace company Lockheed Martin; Alfred Kelly Jr., chairman and CEO of the global payments technology company Visa; and Mark Weinberger, global chairman and CEO of EY, the professional services firm formally known as Ernst & Young.

The discussion will be moderated by former Google CEO Eric Schmidt.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti will deliver welcoming remarks.

Ivanka Trump is a co-chair of the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board with Commerce Secretary Wilbur L. Ross Jr., who is set to speak at the conference Tuesday. Hewson is among the corporate, education, government, and nonprofit leaders on the board, formed in February.

The board's goal "is to increase the country's workforce participation rates by connecting workers with good-paying jobs," President Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump's father, said at a March 6 meeting of the board at the White House.

Monday's other scheduled speakers include International Monetary Fund Managing Director Christine Lagarde; Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao; brothers Anthony and Joe Russo, directors of the box office record setting film, "Avengers: Endgame"; Basketball Hall of Fame member Earvin "Magic" Johnson; fashion designer Donna Karan; and Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant.

Three candidates for the 2020 Democrat presidential nomination are set to speak Tuesday -- former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, Massachusetts Rep. Seth Moulton and Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan.

Other scheduled speakers at the conference include acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney; Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to then-President Barack Obama; ESPN baseball analyst Alex Rodriguez; fashion designer Calvin Klein; U2 lead guitarist The Edge; and Rwandan President Paul Kagame.

Selected sessions will be streamed on the conference's website, globalconference.org, including an interview of Mulvaney by Fox Business Network anchor Maria Bartiromo at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

More than 4,000 leaders in business, government, science, philanthropy, and the arts from more than 60 nations are set to attend the conference, which will feature discussions with current and former senior government officials, CEOs and scientists along with leading figures in entertainment, sports and media.

The theme of the conference is "Driving Shared Prosperity."

"A global transformation is disrupting social and economic norms around the world, heralding an era of rapid change and challenge," said Richard Ditizio, president and chief operating officer of the Milken Institute, a Santa Monica-based nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank that seeks to increase global prosperity by advancing collaborative solutions that widen access to capital, create jobs and improve health.

"Leaders must understand how shifting culture and demography affect the challenges ahead. We can be a catalyst toward expanding prosperity and improving health by connecting those with social, human and financial capital to those who desperately need it."

The conference began Sunday with Jared Kushner, a senior adviser to President Donald Trump and Ivanka Trump's husband, and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin among the speakers.

Kushner, Mnuchin, Lagarde, Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs Marcelo Luis Ebrard Casaubon and Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ernesto Arauno were among the participants in a discussion titled "What Matters Now."

The discussion was closed to the news media.

The conference at The Beverly Hilton continues through Wednesday.
