Two Injured When Three Big Rigs Crash on 710 Freeway

The southbound 710 freeway was closed Wednesday morning while crews cleared spilled diesel oil and wreckage from a chain reaction crash involving three big rigs. Toni Guinyard reports live for Today in LA on Wednesday, August 24, 2016.

All lanes of the southbound 710 Freeway near Willow Street were closed after a big rig crash early Wednesday morning in Long Beach, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported around 12:30 a.m., according to CHP. 

Three big rigs were involved in the crash, which trapped two men in their trucks. One was hospitalized in critical condition, another in serious condition.

The third driver was not injured. 

One of the big rig's trailers detached and landed on the cab of another truck, authorities said.

All lanes of the southbound 710 Freeway were closed until about 7:30 a.m.

What led up to the crash was unclear.
