A man was killed inside a San Fernando Valley doughnut shop when an SUV smashed through the store's walls Saturday night and sent customers scattering for cover.

The crash was reported about 9:30 p.m. at Jolly Donuts in the 8300 block of De Soto Avenue in Canoga Park, the Los Angeles Fire Department said. When firefighters arrived, they found a homeless man had been killed inside the store.

A Jeep Liberty compact SUV was severely damaged.

The driver and three others were taken to a hospital where they were listed in critical condition. By Sunday morning, the driver and one other patient were released from the hospital.

"I'm not feeling great," said Bruce Bowman, one of the injured victims. "I feel like I got hit by a car."

The driver was not suspected of DUI, LAPD Sgt. Marti Whittemore said.

It’s unclear what caused the Jeep to crash into the store.
