A masked man took arms inside Fixins Soul Kitchen on Tuesday evening, killing an unidentified man in his 40s and injuring another. Karma Dickerson reports for the NBC4 News on Nov. 29, 2023.
A man was shot and killed Tuesday night by someone who entered a restaurant at LA Live and opened fire on the victim.
The shooting occurred at Fixins Soul Kitchen in the 800 block of West Olympic Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles. Officers said the shooter got out of a car, walked into the business and shot the victim, who was dining at the restaurant.
The victim later died at a hospital.
The motive for the shooting at the sprawling entertainment venue is currently unknown. The shooter left the scene in a white Honda, possibly an SUV.

No arrests were reported Wednesday.
LAPD Cmdr. Lillian Carranza said the shooter knew the victim. A woman suffered a graze wound in the shooting.
"This was not a random act,'' Carranza said.

At least a dozen witnesses, including the wounded woman, were being interviewed by detectives. Police also plan to review security camera video from nearby businesses.
The restaurant's owners issued a statement after the shooting.
"Fixins Soul Kitchen is shocked and saddened by the incident that occurred this evening at our LA location," the statement read. "Our hearts go out to the victim's family and loved ones."
Fixins Soul Kitchen is owned by former NBA point guard and Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson.
