A man shot in a vehicle traveling on the 110 Freeway was dumped onto the roadway, prompting a Sigalert and the temporary closure of the southbound lanes Saturday afternoon.
The man, who was shot in the neck, was hospitalized in critical condition, according to police.
Authorities are now searching for a burgundy or gray sedan with a shattered rear window.
A Sigalert was issued at 5:09 p.m. for the southbound 110 Freeway near Ninth Street in downtown Los Angeles, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Southbound traffic was snarled from downtown to the 5 Freeway. Drivers were being rerouted at 8th Street.
All lanes were reopened shortly after 7 p.m.
