One teen was killed and another two injured after a vehicle driven by a 14-year-old girl crashed into a traffic light pole and burst into flames in Encino.

The crash was reported around midnight at the intersection of Balboa and Ventura Boulevard.

According to police, officers had spotted the Toyota Camry driving without its lights and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop and officers did not pursue the vehicle due to the severity of the infraction.

Moments later the vehicle was spotted a few blocks down, smoking as a result of a single-party crash.

Three passengers were in the vehicle, all girls: the 14-year-old driver, an 18-year-old passenger and a 16-year-old in the backseat.

Police approached the vehicle, and were able to extract the two front passengers by breaking the windows of the car.

The vehicle burst into flames and prevented officers from extracting the third passenger who was trapped and as a result died at the scene, according to officials.
