19-Year-Old Who Molested Children at Riverside Motel Sentenced

A 19-year-old who molested two children in a Riverside motel room was sentenced Friday to 30 years to life in state prison.

Joseph Hayden Boston pleaded guilty in December to three counts of sexual penetration of a child under 10 years old and two counts of lewd acts on a minor, with sentence-enhancing allegations of targeting multiple children in a sex crime.

Riverside County Superior Court Judge Emma Smith imposed the stipulated sentence. Smith additionally ordered the defendant to register as a sex offender if and when he's paroled.

Boston was turned in by his mother on Dec. 2, 2017, after he confessed to sexually abusing the two boys -- one 4 and the other 8 years old -- at the Simply Home Inn & Suites in the 9800 block of Magnolia Avenue.

Riverside police Officer Ryan Railsback said that the defendant "befriended" the victims, who were staying at the motel with their parents, and took them to his room under false pretenses. After molesting the boys,

Boston "called his mother, stating what he had just done," Railsback said.

Boston also admitted to sexually exploiting other children in different locations, but the charges to which he pled only applied to the victims in Riverside.
