Heavy smoke was first reported about 1:15 p.m. at a three-story commercial building on the lot. The fire was knocked down at 2:34 p.m., Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Quvondo Johnson said.

The building formerly housed the "Terminator 2" attraction, said Universal spokeswoman Audrey Eig.

A firefighter was hospitalized with minor injuries, Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Quvondo Johnson said. No other injuries were reported and park hours were not affected.

"A primary search came up negative, meaning there wasn't anyone trapped inside. All construction workers are accounted for," Johnson said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Johnson said.
