Right-hander Chad Billingsley took another step forward Sunday in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, throwing 1 2/3 innings in a rehab start for the Dodgers Single-A affiliate Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.

The 29-year-old did show some rust. In the 10 batters he faced, Billingsley allowed one run on two hits, struck out two, walked three, and hit a batter. It was his first game action since starting for the Quakes April 6th.
Billingsley told the “True Blue L.A.” blog he expects to make his next start, again for the Quakes, Friday in Lancaster.
He had thrown two simulated games leading up to Sunday’s start. In April, Billingsley was shut down for almost two weeks with tendonitis in his throwing elbow, which required a platelet-rich plasma injection.

The Dodges have not placed a timetable on his return.
