An injured German shepherd mix that was tied to a pickup truck and dragged along a Riverside street will recover in about a month, authorities told NBC LA on Friday.
More than 100 people have offered to adopt the dog, the Riverside County Department of Animal Control Services said, which was pulled along for an unknown distance on Wednesday night.
Animal control officers say they are still looking for the driver of the red pickup, who fled the scene, animal control officer Krista Stewart said. .
"We don't know how long she had been dragged but a lady was driving in her car and saw what was happening," said Animal Control Officer Krista Stewart. "She started beeping her horn and the driver of the truck stopped, cut the dog loose and drove off."
The incident occured near the intersection of Claycroft and Peacock Lanes.
Dr. Allan Drusys, the county's chief veterinarian, said the white dog had lesions and abrasions on all four paws. But he said her injuries were minor enough to indicate that it was unlikely that the animal was dragged very far.
"It certainly wasn't dragged halfway across town at great speed," Drusys said.

The driver, if located, could face animal cruelty charges.
