Several fire units responded to a brush fire Thursday afternoon burning near Foothill and Aliso Canyon roads in Santa Paula, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.
The fire was advanced by forceful Santa Ana winds and burned roughly 45 acres in the foothills.
By about 7 p.m., the fire was considered 50 percent contained, the Ventura County Fire Department reported in a Facebook post. Full containment was expected by midnight.
More than 75 firefighters from Ventura, Santa Paula, Fillmore and Oxnard responded to the blaze from two flanks midday Thursday, the county's fire department said. Crews were also making aerial fire retardant drops.
Crews plan to monitor the fire overnight and complete containment and mop-up in the morning, the fire department said.
The blaze is located on the hillside of a ranch property, however wind gusts around 40 mph, were said to be blowing away from structures.
All roads are open and and no structures have been threatened.

Earlier, Aliso Canyon Road was closed to everyone except residents and ranch workers, fire authorities said. Foothill Road remained open, though occasional traffic control was in place.
