SUV Pursuit Driver Cuts Across Lawn, Slams Into Parked Car

The Infiniti SUV driver was arrested after running from the vehicle in a Mid City neighborhood

A woman watched as a police pursuit ended in a Cheviot Hills cul-de-sac, where the chase driver smashed into her car. Ted Chen reports for the NBC4 News at 5 and 6 p.m. on Oct. 1, 2015.

A driver cut across a lawn and crashed into a car in front of a home Thursday morning during a pursuit on freeways and streets in the Mid City area.

The pursuit began after a report of a stolen vehicle near Crenshaw and Venice boulevards. At 9:30 a.m., the pursuit was on the westbound 10 Freeway before the driver exited onto streets in Mid City.

The shirtless driver and a passenger ran from the black sport utility vehicle after driving onto a sidewalk and lawn, leaving tire marks on a driveway and striking a Honda sedan. Both individuals were taken into custody by several officers.

The parked Honda was not occupied. The owner was in her home officer when she heard police and telelvision station helicopters overhead.

"I watched them come back down the street, slam into my car, and then we realized the got caught," said Liz Presogna. "Really freaky."

Thursday also was Presonga's husband's birthday. She sent him a picture of the car, parts of which were scattered in the street.

No injuries were reported.
