LA Archdiocese Unveils “Pro-Life App” as Roe v. Wade Is Remembered

The app's unveiling comes on the same day as the anti-abortion rally "March for Life" and the anniversary of the landmark ruling in Roe v. Wade

As the country remembers the 41st anniversary of the landmark decision in Roe v. Wade to strike down anti-abortion laws, the Los Angeles Archdiocese launched a new app aimed at helping girls and women with unwanted pregnancies find prayer and care centers.

The archdiocese teamed up with Options United to create the Options United app, which can send "urgent prayer alerts" to users on behalf of women who feel they need it to make a decision about their pregnancy.

"No woman should ever face a pregnancy feeling alone, or desperate, or like she has no other options," Gomez said at the app’s unveiling on Wednesday, the same day as the annual anti-abortion rally, March for Life.

The app can send alerts to users from crisis-pregnancy counselors asking for prayers when a woman is deciding whether to continue her pregnancy. Users who sign up can then receive "save alerts" -- including a picture of an ultrasound, with the mother’s consent -- to inform them if and when the woman keeps her baby.

The free application is available to users nationwide, and can locate pregnancy clinics in their area that offer free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds and post-abortion care.

The Southern California region of the app includes at least 78 pregnancy centers in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Orange, San Diego, San Bernardino, Riverside and Imperial counties.
