Los Angeles, Calif.-- Former UCLA basketball coach John Wooden was released from a Los Angeles-area hospital Tuesday and returned to his home after suffering from pneumonia.
The 98-year-old Wooden had been hospitalized since Feb. 13, Sports Information Director Marc Dellins said.
"He is settling in and is happy to be back in his own home," Wooden's daughter Nan Muehlhausen said. "Dad is doing well, but he still needs plenty rest. The family is asking that people not call or come to visit at this time."
Earlier this month, Wooden's family requested that fans no longer mail or ship items to him to be autographed.
Wooden coached UCLA to a 620-147 record from 1948 to 1975 and won NCAA championships in 10 of his final 12 seasons, including seven in a row from 1967 to 1973. The Bruins won 88 consecutive games from 1971 to 1974 and 38 consecutive NCAA tournament games from 1964 to 1974, both records.
