Thermostats read a chilly 32 degrees, compared to 39 degrees in C-Town.
Calabasas was 28 degrees Monday morning, compared to a balmy 56 in New York City. West LA saw morning temperatures under 40 degrees, cooler than Boston.
The recent winter blast is keeping the area unseasonably cool. The average high for Dec. 6 is 70 degrees, about 5-7 degrees warmer than current temperatures.
"It's so cold out here," says Brianna Fields, of Palmdale. "My daughter is cold. She has to go to school."
And the recent freeze is record-setting. Temperatures were dropping into the upper teens in some spots.
Still, some in the Antelope Valley hope this cold snap is a prelude to snow.
"It's getting cold already. Last year it drug out a little bit later into December, but I have a feeling this is gonna be the one where we're gonna get the good snow," hopes Ruben Castillo, a resident of Palmdale.
