Two Arrested in Fatal Santa Ana Pool Hall Shooting

A man is dead after a gunman opens fire at a Santa Ana pool hall. Jacob Rascon reports for the NBC4 News at Noon on Tuesday No. 19, 2013.

Two peopleA man died of gunshot wounds inside a Santa Ana pool hall early Tuesday, Santa Ana police said.

The victim was about 30 years old and had apparently been shot more than once at the Hidalgo Pool Hall, 1804 West 4th Street in Santa Ana, said Commander Eric Paulson of the Santa Ana Police Department.

Several people witnesses the preceeding argument and shooting, according to investigators. Patrons inside the business gave descriptions of the gunman, but the descriptions varied, Paulson said.

The shooting was reported at 1:20 a.m. The victim -- investigators are attempting to identify him -- died at the scene.

Later the same morning, police announced that two people were arrested in connection with the shooting. One was believed to be the shooter and the other an accomplice, police said.

"In the 30-plus years I've been here, there have been several incidents at this bar. But, for the most part, it's just like any other bar," said Santa Ana Police Department Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

A pool hall security guard told police the gunman pointed the gun at him, then ran.
