A teacher at Mount Gleason Middle School in Sunland was taken off the job Friday, amid an investigation for improper conduct
A teacher has been removed from Mount Gleason Middle School in Sunland as police investigate alleged inappropriate contact with three children, officials said.
The teacher, who police did not identify, has not been arrested.
The Los Angeles Unified School District released a statement this afternoon:
"As a result of recent allegations, a teacher has been removed from Mount Gleason Middle School," the statement read. "The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is working with law enforcement and at its direction cannot disclose the details at this time."
One parent told NBC4 Reporter Lolita Lopez that the investigation may also involve improper images seen on the teacher's mobile phone.
School officials said crisis counselors and psychiatric social workers were available to work with students who might be impacted by the removal of the teacher.
"The District takes each and every reported act of misconduct seriously. We are committed to aggressively pursuing each case to determine the truth and, if necessary, initiate the appropriate disciplinary measures."
