Motorists Urged to Avoid 110 Freeway

Northbound lanes remain closed as shooting investigation continues

The northbound 110 Freeway was closed as investigators collected evidence from a string of officer-involved shootings during a pursuit and search for two suspects.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the 110 Freeway as police officers continue to comb the roadway for evidence in an overnight officer-involved shooting.

Normal lanes of traffic on the northbound side were completely shut down following the shooting and traffic was snarled for several miles.

Lanes of the freeway are closed from Slauson Avenue to Exposition Boulevard. California Highway Patrol is diverting commuters into the Fast Track lanes.

On-ramps and off-ramps are also shut down.

Alternate routes include the 710 Freeway.

A string of officer-involved shootings ended in South Los Angeles with an officer being shot in the leg and one of two gunmen killed, LAPD said early Monday.

A time when the lanes will be reopened was not immediately available.
