NBC4 reporter Gadi Schwartz and photographer Kristopher Li traveled to the Philippines to document the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan. Thousands have been confirmed dead, and the number has been increasing rapidly.

Of the 3.4 million Filipino-Americans, U.S. Census figures show more than 463,000 live in Los Angeles and Orange counties alone - many with relatives affected by the disaster.
