Authorities confirmed an arrest Friday in an explosion and fire at a Pasadena home that left two residents dead.
Grath Allen Robbins, 49, was arrested in connection with the fire at what police identified as an adult living facility. Robbins was living in a room at the house, police said.
Two men were killed, one man seriously injured and sixteen others evacuated Thursday from the home in the 1300 block of El Sereno Avenue. Nearly 20 people were living in the home, but Pasadena fire officials said it is not licensed to be a care facility through the state or city.
Residents described the home to NBC4 as a group home and drug-free rehabilitation center.
Firefighters responded early Thursday to a report of an explosion and fire. Residents described a "loud bang" before seeing flames.
"As the investigation progressed, evidence was recovered indicative of an intentionally set fire in Mr. Robbins' room," police said in a statement. "The focus of the investigation shifted from a suspicious fire to an act of Arson/Murder."
Firefighters prevented flames from spreading to nearby homes. The displaced residents were transported to the Jackie Robinson Community Center in Pasadena.
Robbins was arrested Friday morning at a restaurant, police said. He was booked at the Pasadena City jail on suspicion of murder without bail.
The deceased victims' identities have not been released, pending notification of family.
Perry Simons, 65, remained in serious condition Friday.
